A friend in need is a friend indeed

This document is a photo taken in our school.
The scene takes place in the schoolyard. There is nothing in the foreground but in the middle we can clearly distinguish two teenagers, me and Pierre, who are taking or holding their hands. The guy on the ground shows some distress, and the other one standing symbolizes hope. I have shades under me and, in the top left hand corner, the sunlight touches Pierre. Finally, in the background, there is a white wall, white for light and purity. We have chosen this color  to show the sunlight that represents hope and  purity, just like Pierre’s tee-shirt. To accentuate the light and the shades on this two-shot picture, we have chosen an eye-view angle.
To our mind, this photo expresses frienship. There is no message but friendship is important in the bad situations like the good ones : that’s the meaning of  the saying « A friend in need is a friend indeed ».

A friend in need is a friend indeed

To us, the saying « A friend in need is a friend indeed » means that when someone – one of your friends- needs your help, it also means that he or she is trusting you, so it’s a true friend, and you must help him or her !

The photo is an over- the- shoulder view and a cowboy shot. In the picture, we can see two statues sitting on a bench. They’re representing two female characters. One of them is sitting in the light, while the other is in the shadow. The one that is in the darkness seems to be sad, in a bad mood or situation, all alone… the statue seems to be desesperate,  also, the one that is in the light seems to be indulgent, as if she was understanding the other statue in front of her.

We can see that there is some sort of a connection between the two characters. For example, their hands are barely touching. They’re looking at each other as if they wanted to communicate, to do something together or just have telepathy, They both are trusting each other.

To us, it’s one of the best picture to illustrate the saying, because it shows how a link between two friends can be strong and also invisible to the naked eye.

FRIENDSHIP

This document is a photograph. We can see two boys who are doing a fist bump at school in the middle of the day. It’s a worm’s eye view so the two  characters seem to be taller than in reality . They are in backlight because they’re facing sun.

The worm’s eye view gives the impression of invincibility. They are doing  a bro fist and the two boys look really united. With the worm’s eye view we can imagine that nothing can break their friendship.

They are facing the sun and this gives the idea of kindness, friendhip or something really positive. They are looking at the sun, so it’s like they are saying :
«  Our friendship is like the sun! It’s positive, It will never break, will never fall and we can’t live without it ! »

However, there are many clouds, which can mean two different things. Either you can think that the clouds represent the adventures they will have to live  or you can suppose that there are many ups and downs in a friendship and that people always have to do their best to maintain a friendship.

A friend in need is a friend indeed

For us, the saying « A friend in need is a frien indeed » means that a friend should always to be there for his friends when they need him or her. If they have a problem he or she shouldn’t let them down. A friend shouldn’t be present only in good moments and we think that it’s when you have a problem that you get know who your true friends are.

On the picture you can see a girl after she has fallen from the  stairs at school and an another girl who came to help her because she doesn’t feel very well. The picture has been taken as if the photographer was an observer going down the stairs and seeing the scene, so it’s an eye-view angle. This picture is a full shot and a two shot as well.

We have chosen to take the picture in the playground because we wanted to make the picture more realistic. On the picture, you can see that the scene takes place in the morning.

Our picture well illustrates the saying because you can see a girl who is taking care of her friend because she has just fallen down. We think a good friend has to be there to help, it’s one of the best qualities to be a good friend. When you help your friends, they will give it  back to you and  mutual assistance is very important in a friendship.

To conclude, friendship is very important in the social life and people should always be there for their friends to show the best versions of themselves.

A friend in need is a friend indeed

Hello ! My name is Juliette Labarre and I am 15.

My name is Pauline Gommard and I am 14.

Now, we are going to talk about the saying “A friend in need is a friend indeed” thanks to this picture. First, I am going to explain the meaning of it, then I am going to make a link between the picture and the saying, finally I will conclude with Pauline.

As you can notice, we have chosen a picture of us on which Pauline is falling down and I am catching her to help her. This picture has two meanings for us. Well, I’d like to start with the saying. To my mind, “A friend in need is a friend indeed” means a good friend should help you when you’re indeed, so when you come across difficulties in your life. It means a good friend should be with you whenever, even at night or if you’re sick for example. they shouldn’t let you down and must be trustworthy. To sum up, in my point of view, a friend in need could count on me to help him or her.

Turning to the description. On the picture, we can see three people, so it’s a tree shot with a low angle. The scene takes place in the school’s corridor in the afternoon . We can see a girl who is comfortably reading lying on the floor and crossing her legs. I didn’t see her so I get mixed up my legs and I fell down. Juliette is catching me by the arm to help me. We have chosen this angle because on this picture, Juliette is helping me out because she’s my friend. This angle has a good effect to emphasise on people ‘s courage. We wanted to show the importance of a friend who is helping another.

Moving on now to the link between the picture and the saying. On the one hand, it illustrates the fact that physically, when a friend needs you, you help him not to get hurt him. On the other hand, our picture well illustrates the saying because it shows that a good friend doesn’t let his friend  sad or even alone. A friend in need, needs a good listener, a kind friend and someone who cares about him. In catching Pauline, this photo shows I want to help her and stop her problems.

We decided to take the picture in the afternoon because in the first place, we had free time. Secondly, other people were in the classrooms so there were few people in the corridor; We took the picture beside windows to have a good light and effect and also to get the best view of all the characters. Then, we took the picture in the school’s corridor because we usually spend ou time in the corridors. Finally, we  can notice that I fell down because of a girl who is not friendly at all and doesn’t take care of others.

To conclude, our picture is clear  because the angles and the shot are perfect and we can have a good vision of best friend’s qualities too. Finally, our picture describes friendship in two ways and very well illustrates the saying “A friend in need is a friend indeed”. So, we did a good job. Thanks for your attention. Any questions ?

A friend in need is a friend indeed

The subject of this article is the saying « a friend in need is a friend indeed ».

First of all, this saying means that a real friend is somebody who will always help you and who will never let you down.

Let’s look now at this picture taken in a street next to high school. We can see one blind person helping another one who has fallen. The main character, in this picture, is the blind woman. In fact, the angle used is a low-angle shot to show the greatness of this woman. This person is smiling and she is helping the other one who is hurt. She did an effort to come and help the other one to satnd up. She is actings like a real friend.

Then, this picture illustrates the saying because the friend in need is the wounded girl and the blind came to help, she doesn’t let her down despite her handicap.

The picture has been taken in the street, during the day, because it’s a place where many people walk around. Nobody came to help the girl who has fallen down and may eb hurt but her friend made an effort just for her. Actually, the blind just heard her and found her just with her hearing. That shows again that she’s a good friend.

In conclusion, this picture is in link with the saying « a friend in need is a friend indeed » because we can see that a real friend is doing her best to help.

A funny picture

A friend in need is a friend indeed! Let’s try to illustrate this saying humorously!

We will divide this text between the three of us.

-Lou will explain our choices of camera angles and shot and she will describe the picture.

-Manon will write about the different meanings of the saying« the friend in need is a friend indeed » and she will explain what friendship means to us .

Antonin will focus on the link with the picture and our artistic choices.

Description

The scene takes place in Joan of Arc high school. The light comes from the ceiling. There is a very good lighting even if the toilets are quite dark. Time is not really important to take this picture, but the choice of the room is  to make the situation more realistic.

Camera shot and camera angle

The camera shot is a medium shot and the camera angle is a pov (point of view) simply because we wanted the picture to be realistic, and this camera angle transfers the people looking at the picture directly into the head of the character.

Definition of the expression «A friend in need is a friend indeed » and  friendship

For the majority of human beings, it is necessary to have friends in life. A study published in the journal developmental psychology demonstrated that being surrounded by friends can reduce anxiety .

Friendship protects and helps to get out of depression. Friendship day, on 30th July, has even been created by the UNO. But friendship is difficult to establish and it is not so simple to know who your real friends are.

We can ask  ourselves one question:

« Will they be there by my side when I need help? »

To us, friendship means trust, sincerity and communication. A real friend should share both happiness and misfortune with you because a friend in need is a friend indeed.

The link with the picture

We think that the picture talks enough by itself. A lot of people may have experienced this situation in their lives. Even if it’s quite cringe-making, your friend is just right here to give you  what you need, i.e toilet paper. The picture well depicts the situation !

Artistic choice

We think that the funny aspect of the picture also helps to find it better. It’s even quite funny to see the situation in front of you even if you are adult or really mature. Having a picture with toilet papers , toilets and your friend in need is a good choice to illustrate the proverb.

Conclusion

So to put it more simply, we chose this picture because we found that the situation, the camera angle, the camera shot, the funny aspect and the setting quite well illustrate the saying.

A friend in need is a friend indeed

We are Clara and Lucie and we’re going to talk about the saying « A friend in need is a friend indeed », its meaning and the picture we took to illustrate this saying.

« A friend in need is a friend indeed » means that when someone needs help, their friends will be there to support and help him or her.

Our picture shows Lucie handing a copybook to Clara who invited her over to come and help her  because she needed to copy her missing classes. Clara seems to enjoy her friend’s help, as shown by her facial expression. We have chosen the point-of-view shot because it helps the viewer to identify himself or herself as the helping friend, and we took this picture in the afternoon because it’s usually when we, students, do our homework. In conclusion, our picture well illustrates the saying because someone is helping their friend in need.

A friend in need is a friend indeed.

We are Jules and Lucie and we are going to talk about friendship. We are going to divide this talk into four parts.

« A friend in need is a friend indeed ». Let me talk about the meaning of the saying. If a friend needs our help, we have to help him because he is someone you can rely on and who can do the same for us.

Moving on now to the full description of the picture. As you can notice, we can see two persons. They are doing their homework in the library. They are sitting side by side and they have their stuff to work. The boy is in trouble because he doesn’t understand the assigned exercise. The girl is helping him showing the book and explaining the exercise. This picture is a two shot and an eye-view.

Turning now to th link with the saying. As we wrote before : « a friend in need is a friend indeed ». In this picture we can see a person who is in trouble, and his friend who helps him. So, our picture well illustrates the saying because the friend of the person who needs help is assisting him.

Let’s look now at the choices that we made. We took this picture in the afternoon because it’s a good moment to see our friends. We chose the library because it’s a place where people often do their homework.

In conclusion, our picture is definitely in link with the saying.

A friend in need is a friend indeed

We are going to talk to you about the picture that we took to illustrate friendship and the saying «  a friend in need is a friend indeed. » This saying means that a friend should always be your friend even in bad situations.

We’ll describe the picture and explain why whe used some angles and shot to take our photo.

On the picture, we can see two people, Alice and I.
Alice is hanging from a roof, a wall and is about to fall. I’m on the floor and I’m trying to catch her. Because, you know, if she falls, she will probably be hurt but if she tumbles, I’ll be there to catch her. It’s like the metaphor of life for us, you know ? If you fall, a good friend will always pick you up.
It’s a little bit dangerous and risky to catch someone who is falling  from such a height, so I could be hurt, but a friend in need is a friend indeed, isn’t it?

Let’s turn now to the practical point.
When we took this photo, we chose a two shot in order to see the two protagonists of the action and, consequently of  friendship, because a friendship is a relationship and we thought that it would be important to show that on our picture.
We also used a high angle shot. Why is it important ? Because this angle makes us  look less powerful, more vulnerable and it’s right, we are actually in a situation of weakness.
Thanks to an optical illusion, we created the impression that I am falling from a roof, look!
Mélina, a friend of us, accepted to take the picture sitting on the floor, horizontally and we realigned her vertically. The real  floor is no longer the floor but the wall and we are not lying on the floor but hanging from a roof and standing up against a wall.
Let’s look now at my hair, it’s the only little defect of this optical effect, it is dangling from my head but in the wrong position. It’ s because of gravity, so we couldn’t really handle it and find a solution.

In conclusion,  friendship is a relationship between several people not only between two people. If you want to be a good friend, you have to take some risks to help your friend if they have some problem. Of course, you can play, talk, laugh with your friends  but you should also be there for them when they need help.

A friend in need is a friend indeed

The topic of our writing task is « a friend in need is a friend indeed ».
Let’s begin by the description of our picture. We can see two girls, one looks  sad and may be crying and the other one tries to comfort her. The photo has been taken in our school at lunchtime. Our camera shot type is a two-shot because there are two main characters and it is all about emotional relationship. Our camera angle type is a frontal view because we wanted the viewers to be in front of the characters.

Now, let’s explain why our picture illustrates the saying. We can see solidarity between the two friends. Indeed, a true friend helps you when you are in a bad mood and he or she tries to help you to go back up the slope.

Then, we will explain our choices: the scene takes place at school because this is where we  see our classmates and friends every day and many problems can happen, like discrimination and prejudice. We chose this situation because, a good friend should be available for you in the good and the bad moments. Friendship means mutual assistance.

In conclusion,we emphasised on the idea of feelings because we think friendship is the most beautiful human relationship.

So, never forget « a friend in need is a friend indeed ».

A friend in need is a friend indeed

Our topic’s subject is about the saying « A friend in need is a friend Indeed ».
We would like to start with the meaning of the saying.
Secondly, we will explain why we took this picture.
Then we will write about the shot and the angle that we chose.
Finally , we will explain why we think our picture illustrates the saying « A friend in need is a friend Indeed ».

First of all, the saying « A friend in need is a friend Indeed » means that a friend who helps you when you really need help is a true friend.

Then, in this picture we can see that Esther is helping Meriam to do the math exercice that she doesn’t understand. Esther is here to help her and explain her the exercice. We can see that Esther takes time for her friend to explain and rephrase the exercise’s instruction.

The angle that we chose is a a bird’s eye view shot to make sure that the viewers will see Esther, Meriam and the exercice on the picture. That’s taken from directly overhead and from a distance. This view shows the subject’s direction : the math exercise and the complicity between us. This is  also a two shot because we wanted both of us to be on the picture.

In conclusion, we think our picture well illustrates the saying « A friend in need is a friend Indeed » because it shows that, in case of troubles, friends should always help each other.

A friend in need is a friend indeed.

Our topic today is  friendship. We are going to divide this article into six parts :

  • we will start by explaining the meaning of the saying,
  • secondly, we will make a description of our picture,
  • thirdly, we will tell you about the shot and the angle that we chose,
  • then, we will make a link between the saying and the picture,
  • we will also explain why we took the picture ,
  • and finally, we will make a conclusion.

For us, the saying « a friend in need is a friend indeed » explains what friendship is with only one sentence.

A good friend should always be there for you. He/she shares moments with you. When you are in need, you want that your friend helps you because you can count on her or him.

Moving on now to the description of the picture.

In the foreground, you can see us, on the left Rebecca is wearing a red blouse and blue jeans. On the right, Louise is wearing a grey sweater, a black coat and blue jeans too. Rebecca is holding a cigarette in her right hand and a cigarette pack in her left hand. You can notice that Louise is handing a black bin to her and she has put her hand on her shoulder.

In the background, there are some cars and JDA high school.

Turning to the shot and the angle.

We used a medium two shot because there are two main characters and we see them above kneels. Thanks to that, the viewer can see many details. We also tried a high-angle shot  to show Rebecca more vulnerable.

The next topic we’d like to focus on is the link with the saying.

This proverb says that we should take care of our friends. And on the picture, Louise is definitely taking care of her friend, she doesn’t want her friend to smoke and put her life in danger.

Let’s look now at some more details.

We chose to take the picture in front of our  school because we can imagine that Rebecca smokes to be like the others. She may be thinking that if she smokes, she will be more popular. But Louise doesn’t want her friend to be sick, so she asks her to throw the cigarette away to keep being healthy.

If we can just sum up the main points :

  • Rebecca is vulnerable because of the cigarette.
  • Louise  cares about her friend, so she looks after her.
  • A good friend should always be helpful.

A friend in need is a friend indeed

First, let’s start with our definition of this saying.

For us, a good friend is someone who never lets you down and who is always there for you when you have a problem.

For our picture, we chose a full shot angle to show the background and the two friends in the foreground  because  friendship is the most important topic in this picture . We can see a girl who needs help because she is crying and, on the left, we can see her friend who is comforting her. The background is dark, just like the girl’s clothes on the right (Clara), that are really different from  the girl on the left’s clothes (Garance). Hers  are more colorful, so the friends are in a different mood but still together. The proximity between them shows they are real friends. Garance puts her arms around Clara to protect her. It’s like a hug .

Our photograph is in link with the saying because the girl is helping her friend in need. We chose to show this situation because we think that, when we are teenagers, we have a lot of problems, like heartache or conflict with our parents, so we need someone to understand us and our friends should be there for us because we have similar problems and we can solve them together. That’s why we really need each other.

We took this picture with a mobile because it’s an everyday object. We were helped by a friend to take the picture because we wanted a full- angle shot and that’s really hard to do it. We decided to take this picture at  school at 10 am because  friends generally see each other in the morning when they arrive at  school. We chose this background because it’s a dark place which well illustrates the sadness of the girl on the right. Garance is wearing colorful clothes to symbolise happiness and Clara is wearing dark ones to emphasise on her sadness.

To conclude this situation Clara needs help and Garance comforts her. They are friends and that’s normal because a true friend should never let you down and always help you in hard moments, it’s very important to have friends because they are people who make you laugh and help you to forget about your problems.

« A friend in need is a friend indeed »

Our topic today is  » A friend in need is a friend indeed », that means that a friend should always help you when you’re in need, always be there in the good times as in the bad ones. He should never let you down.

We decided to take the picture in the cemetery to show that a good friend is always there no matter what happens. To my mind, a friend doesn’t have to be there only in the good times, he has to be there any time. We have chosen to use a two shot because we are two and a full shot. Our picture was shot with a ducht angle to make the viewer share the feeling of melancholy, the sorrows and especially the idea of mourning. That’s all I have to say about the elements, the shots and the angles.

I think our pricture well illustrates the saying because my friend is there for me and he knows that a death of person who counts in my eyes is a hard moment to go through and to feel supported by a friend and being able to talk can give you some relief. He’s helping me to put this rose on the grave to overcome this ordeal.

First, on the photo, I’m wearing black jeans and a black sweater to show sadness while Antonin is wearing a white sweatshirt to illustrate hope and relief. But he’s also wearing black jeans to emphathise with me. Then, you can see in the foreground, Antonin on the right, the grave in the middle and me on the left. Finally, in the background, there are other graves. When we took the picture the sky was cloudy, which doesn’t give a warm atmosphere.

To summarise, we think that we had a good idea and our picture well illustrates the saying  » A friend in need is a friend indeed ».

We are going to divide this text into four parts.

In the first part we will write about the meaning of the quote.

In the second part we will explain the angle shots of our picture.

Then, we will describe the picture.

And finally , give you the reasons why we took this picture.

Now, we are going to show you our photo illustrating « A friend in need is a friend indeed ».

But before, let us explain to you this quote : a real good friend is someone who never let you down.

The picture was taken in the high school library, because it’s a good place to help someone to do their homework.

We chose to take a two shot to show more details in the photograph about Caroline and me. The angle is point- of- view  angle with an eye level  to create a more neutral effect in the scene.

Turning to the description of our picture.

This photograph was taken by Caroline and me. In the foreground, there are some school stuff, with a math book and pencil cases. The two characters are in the background. We can see Caroline who is explaining to me a math exercise.

In short, we think our picture illustrates the quote « A friend in need is a friend indeed », because in this scene, Caroline helps me to do my exercises instead of doing hers.

« A friend in need is a friend indeed »

We are going to talk about our picture that illustrates the saying “a friend in need is a friend indeed”

We are going to divide this text into three parts.

The first part is about the meaning of the saying.

The second part is about the description of our picture and the third and final part is about the reasons why  we took this picture.

Let’s start by the meaning of a friend in need is a friend indeed.

This saying means that when you really need help you can realise who your real friends are.

Turning to the description of our picture. The angle we chose is a pov. Pov intends to mimic what a particular character is seeing.  This puts the people into the head of the character. It’s more real! We chose this type of shot to show more details of the foreground and some information about the background.

In the background, we can see the walls of the study room and we can see three pupils who are studying. In the foreground, we can see a hand who is giving me a working paper because I was absent. We can notice that I’ m smiling because my friend even wrote the correction of the exercises.

That’s all I have to say about the description, now we are going to start the final part. Why did we take this picture and where?

We took this picture in a study room because, we often need help when we go to this place, we can speak about the lessons we didn’t understand and help each others like  when you help your friends and this is all about friendship.

Our picture well illustrates the saying because I am helping Charly since he was absent and because I’m his friend so I help him when he is in need and because  friends should always help each others.

To conclude, we think we did a good job because our picture well illustrates the saying “A friend in need is a friend indeed
