Bonfire Night is a festival. It is celebrated on November 5th with bonfires and fireworks. Bonfire Night is celebrated all over the UK. It is a celebration of the fact that Guy Fawkes’ plan to kill King James I failed.
Children make “dolls” representing Guy Fawkes with a balloon, marker, newspaper and paint. Then they dress him in an old jacket, trousers, shoes, gloves and a hat.
The Gunpowder Plot took place over 400 years ago. Guy Fawkes rented the cellar under the parliament to blow up the King with gunpowder. But he was captured and executed instead!
